Learn how a blog can establish credibility, improve SEO, generate leads, and provide multiple streams of passive income.

I talk to all kinds of entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to learn how to make money online from home. They have a product or service to offer, but they don't have a blog. Instead, they've built their online presence through another site, such as Etsy or Shopify, or even social media.

They’re primarily focusing on word-of-mouth referrals and their social accounts, which is fine if it's part of a much broader strategy. But relying on either one of those alone will not produce the type of results they’re looking for.

What do I mean by a broader strategy? I’m talking about your overall marketing plan. Um… you do have one, right?

Social media is a good way to let people know you’re out there, but those followers rarely turn into your ideal clients. Why? Because they have very little invested. Meaning they’ve liked some of your content but they aside from that, they haven’t invested more time to really get to know you and your services.

Referrals on the other hand are an excellent source of leads because people buy from and work with people they know, like, and trust. If a friend recommends a restaurant, you’re more than likely going to check it out, right? The problem with depending solely on referrals is that it is not consistent. And every business needs to have a consistent source of income.

Your marketing plan needs to include both of these elements of promotion, but can’t rely solely on either one of them.

Unleash Your Inner Storyteller: Discover, Share, and Monetize Your Life Journey Through Blogging!

Enter the blog!

You see, a blog is so much more than just a place to share your lifestyle tips and tricks. It is the hub of your entire online presence.

Your website is like your online “home”. It’s where you live. It’s where you entertain your guests. The colors and style of your branding represent you and your business. You are in complete control (or at least you should be!) of the look and feel that your visitors get when they enter your website. Having a blog is how you share your stories. It’s how you share your knowledge and wisdom. It’s how your visitors get to know more about you and “hear” your voice - which is what sets you apart from your competitors.

And, it is the hub of your entire online business. A well-thought-out blog will provide you with the ability to not only implement an entire content marketing strategy, it will also provide you with the ability to serve your ideal clients, process payments, deliver your products or services, and create multiple streams of passive income.

In short, having a well-structured blog can make you a lot of money!

So, let me break it down and list all of the reasons you should have a blog for your business.

Your blog allows you to:

Establish thought leadership and expertise in the industry - In other words, establishing credibility with your ideal client. Every blog post you write is an opportunity for you to share your expertise in your industry.
Improve search engine optimization (SEO) by creating fresh and relevant content - this is what brings organic traffic to your website and helps you rank higher in the search engines.
Provide value to customers and build stronger relationships - The more you share your expertise, the more value you provide to your readers. Additionally, they have the opportunity to “get to know you” through your writing style. And the more value you provide, the more often they’ll want to come back and learn more.
Generate leads and increase website traffic - this is golden! A well-structured blog site will have lead-generating funnels on every page. This means you are offering something of value in exchange for their email address. This allows you to build an email list so you can continue to nurture your audience.
Create opportunities for social media sharing and engagement - with every blog post, you have the ability to create social media content that will not only create engagement on your social media platforms but also drive traffic back to your website, where you can collect their email address.
Humanize your brand and connect with customers on a more personal level - I touched on this earlier when I mentioned how your writing style will allow your visitors to get to know you. As you write more blogs and engage with your audience through email you are developing a connection with your audience. They are getting to know you and trust you.
Share news, updates, and announcements with your customers - While you can do this on social media, it doesn’t have the same impact as when they receive a personalized email allowing them to be the first to hear about your news. This further deepens your relationship with your audience.
Provide a platform for customer feedback and interaction - the more you encourage feedback and interaction, the better you’ll get to know your ideal clients so you can serve their needs better.
Develop a monetization strategy - There are many ways to monetize a blog and provide multiple streams of passive income that will help you build a sustainable business with long-term growth.

So basically, regardless of the type of business you have, you need to have a blog!

By not having one, you are limiting your online visibility, reducing your opportunities for engagement and community building, and limiting your potential for generating revenue and growing your business.
